OUR ROOTS
This foundation is inspired by David Fellers who continuously spread joy and optimism for 30 years. David was born February 7, 1978, with Cerebral Palsy. Despite his physical limitations, his enthusiasm for life and positive energy touched and inspired everyone who knew him. Without ever hearing or saying a word, he truly taught us that happiness comes from the inside.
David was fortunate to have the support of many teachers, therapist, and caregivers throughout his life. He had many health issues that required both medical expertise as well as specialized equipment. The help he received enabled him to participate in the community. The gift he was able to give back was one of enthusiasm and joy. He never wasted a moment feeling sorry for himself but rose to the challenge of doing the best he could with what he had.
According to the World Health Organization, 10% of the world’s population is disabled -that is approximately 600 million individuals. It is estimated that in low-income and middle-income countries, only 5%-15% of disabled people who require assistive devices and technologies have access to them. This fact is often due to low production and inadequate quality of devices in lower income countries. These statistics indicate there is a vast need for medical equipment and supplies for disabled persons throughout the world.
Out of this immense need and David’s amazing example, the David Fellers Healing Art Foundation (DFHAF) was created
